About Oriana...I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT) with the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT). I hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree from the University of Guelph with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy.
I hold myself accountable to The Professional Practice Standards of Registered Psychotherapists, the CAMFT Code of Ethics, as well as to laws applicable to a mental health clinician’s role in Ontario. I am committed to providing quality service and professionalism to the people I meet by voluntarily attending clinical supervision/consultation and by engaging in continual learning through reading relevant clinical literature and attending conferences. In addition to my passion for engaging in helpful therapeutic conversations and relationships with others, my interests span a love for wildlife, thrifting, handmade arts and crafts, social/cultural documentaries, and spending time with my husband and two young sons. |
Approach: A Supportive and Facilitative RoleI draw upon a number of therapeutic approaches that are uniquely adapted to you and our conversations. These include:
Most consistent in my work is the adoption of a conversational, collaborative approach. My skills lie in gently and respectfully engaging the people I work with in conversation about issues affecting their lives and relationships. I view my role as a co-explorer where together. as conversational partners, we examine, wonder, question, and reflect on the issues at hand. During these conversations I also carefully listen for themes of competence, connection, and hope, as well as for one's personal values, beliefs, commitments, and intentions. I help to bring clients' attention to these "threads" to further explore them and assist in weaving them into the problem(s) that are initially brought to therapy. Through these conversations, problems begin to "loosen", enabling for greater clarity, deeper awareness, new understandings, possibilities, next steps, and resolutions. In other words, through the process of exploratory conversations, you may notice opportunities to take action and set your life and relationships in the direction you prefer. |
